Achala Region, Sierras Grandes of Córdoba

The Achala orographic system, where the Quebrada del Condorito National Park is located, is an important endemism center, where unique species and subspecies have evolved.

Among the invertebrate fauna, some noteworthy endemic species are the Achala´s Scorpion, Achala´s Harvestman, and several Pseudoscorpion species.

Among vertebrates, birds (Long-tailed Meadowlark, Olrog´s Cinclodes, Black-billed Shrike-Tyrant), mammals (Culpeo Fox, Polop´s Mouse), reptiles (Copper´s Lizard), and amphibians (Achala´s Toad, Achala´s Escuerzo-frog, and Achala´s Four-eyed Frog) are exclusive components of the fauna unique to this high-altitude ecosystem.
