Monotremata is an ancient line of mammals that reproduce by eggs. Only a few species survive, living in Australia and New Guinea, distributed in two groups:
The Echidnas
They look like hedgehogs, but with a long tubular snout resembling that of the ant-eaters.
The Platypus
Its body is well adapted to the aquatic life, with dense fur, flattened tail, webbed feet, and a duck-like beak.
