This is a group of ancient mammals exclusive to the Americas, to which the Giant Anteater, the Collared Anteater, the Pigmy Anteater, and several species of sloths, as well as extinct species of enormous dimensions such as the Megatherium, belong. Its highly developed claws are characteristic, they use them to break anthill and termite mounds in the case of insectivorous species, or to hang on tree branches in the case of sloths, which are herbivorous.
