The Grebes

The Grebes are aquatic birds of the Order Podicipediformes, highly specialized for life in such environments. For swimming, they have feet with lobed toes instead of webbed feet like ducks have. They feed on fish and aquatic invertebrates, which they catch by diving. They build their nest using floating vegetation. Although they spend their life mostly in the water, they can fly very well, and several species perform migratory movements.
