The African continent is the ancestral homeland of Homo sapiens, the species to which all modern humans belong.
The “modern” anatomy is unequivocally found in fossils 200,000 years old, but it could date back as far as 300,000 years. Various migratory currents would have carried our species first to Europe and Asia and finally to the Americas.
