The Knighthawks or Knightjars, belonging to the Order Caprimulgiformes, are little known by people in general, because they are medium to small size nocturnal birds. They are skillful flying birds and they actively pursue the insects they feed on, catching them in flight. To do this they use their vibrissae, feathers modified as “hairy” filaments that surround their beak, and that detect the faint vibrations in the air produced by the wings of their prey.
