Flamingos

They are water birds grouped in the Order Phoenicopteriformes.  Its beak of broken aspect and its very long neck and legs make them unmistakable.

They feed on small invertebrates, algae, and bacteria that grow in the shallow waters of salty lakes and lagoons.

At Mar Chiquita lagoon is typical the Chilean Flamingo, that at that site forms the highest concentrations of individuals for the species. In central Argentina is common also the Andean Flamingo, species internationally declared as Vulnerable because their populations, in addition to scarce, are concentrated in few places.
