The boa constrictor

This snake, locally known as “Lampalagua” or “Boa de las vizcacheras” is a big boa, without venom glands as all others of its kind. It feeds mainly on medium-sized mammals which kills by constriction. One of its common names refers to its habit of inhabiting vizcacha´s colonies and underground galleries, although is a good tree climber. It is a species seriously threatened by its capture to market its valuable skin.
