The Passerine birds

Not all birds are passerines.  Chicken or ostrich are birds, but not passerines, as well as woodpeckers, doves, kingfishers, and others. This name is limited to songbirds or perching birds. These belong to the Order Passeriformes, which comprises some 5900 species in the world. Near 480 species of Passeriformes inhabit the Argentina, with around 170 of them represented in Cordoba province. They are diverse in form and coloration, and small-sized in general. Many produce melodious songs and build elaborate nests. A good sample of its diversity in this country is exhibited in our museum.
